How is CMT Inherited

CMT is generally inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. This means that if one parent has the disease (either the father or the mother) there is a 50% chance of passing it on to each child. CMT can also be inherited in a recessive (both parents have the flawed gene) or an X-linked pattern, meaning that the responsible gene is located on the X chromosome, one of the two sex chromosomes.
